Vegalim is a 100% male hybrid and excellently suitable for the production van green asparagus in a warm climate. Vegalim combines a medium-early production with high yields and an excellent tip. Vegalim is also very suitable for cultivation measures aimed at advancing.

  • • Very high production potential;
  • • Unequalled tip;
  • • High stem weight and uniform sorting;
  • • Stable and strong foliage.

Vegalim thrives best on vigorous soils that are well drained. During multi-annual research, for the green cultivation the best results were achieved with a plant density of 25,000 – 30,000 plants per hectare and a plant depth of 15 - 25 cm. In areas that that allow artificial irrigation, or are fitted with a dripping-fertigation, the highest plant densities can be used. Vegalim is a 100% male hybrid, which results in not only a long lifespan, but also ensures seedlings to no longer appear.

Vegalim has a very high production potential, a perfect quality and a very good thickness. During harvest stems with red/purple stripes may appear, that don’t meet the quality requirements. The degree to which this occurs cannot be predicted and the phenomenon does not seem to be caused by stress conditions. Over 70% of the uniform products are in the diameter class above 12 mm. The tip of Vegalim is excellent, even under warm circumstances. Vegalim produces nice and smooth stems with a cylindrical shape.

The unique foliage of Vegalim is firmly raised and is well resistance against leaf diseases. As no female berries are being formed, the foliage is little sensitive to composition.
